Ruhrturm Essen

Revitalisation of a landmark

Patricia Paulus, representing the new owners, explains:

‘The office market has changed dramatically. With the revitalisation of the RUHRTURM, we are responding to this and creating diverse spaces with a high quality of life. Apartments, a daycare centre, medical care and local amenities make the tower a place that takes on social responsibility in the heart of the city. It is important to us that the RUHRTURM is once again perceived as a positive landmark for Essen – a place that connects people and strengthens the district.’

Targeted changes to the exterior will transform the RUHRTURM into a green oasis of short distances – a miniature 5-minute city. It will create places where people can meet, shop and live – thereby making an active contribution to urban development in Essen.

All under one roof at the Ruhrturm – conference rooms, hotel, catering.

Event and conference centre

Short distances, rooms flooded with daylight and state-of-the-art event technology are guaranteed at the RUHRTURM. In addition, an experienced event crew is always on hand to assist you.

Conference hotel

A sophisticated stay at a fair price is a matter of course in the 137 hotel rooms. Free WiFi and SKY TV round off the amenities in our 3-star hotel.

Catering

The varied catering makes every event a culinary experience. The amenities are complemented by the RUHR Lounge – the stylish bar in the foyer.

Thomas Kufen, Mayor of Essen:

‘The RUHRTURM has been an integral part of Essen's cityscape for decades. With the planned redesign, it will become a flagship project for sustainable urban development. I am particularly pleased about the new social amenities such as childcare, housing and healthcare – these are important building blocks that enrich the district and make our city fit for the future.’

From concrete to community.

Sustainable, social, urban.

The transformation is designed as a flagship project for the Ruhr region: it shows how existing buildings can be given a new lease of life through intelligent renovation and conversion. In this way, the RUHRTURM is developing into what it is meant to be – a landmark that the city can be proud of.

The plans include:

  • Flats and micro-apartments for students, professionals and long-stay guests
  • A nursery to support families in the neighbourhood
  • A medical care centre to complement existing services and bring healthcare directly to the neighbourhood
  • Local shops and restaurants that benefit not only tenants but also the surrounding area

The very best of our touch

In every project.
